Vegan Acai Bowls, Smoothies and Juice
Plant-Based at Fresche. Everything on the Genuine Fresche menu can be made vegan, and in most cases it already is.
Plant based is our baseline. Simple, clear, and unmistakable. Every item is vegan or easily made vegan. No dairy in our blends. No dairy ingredients in our bowls. Real fruit, real food, made fresh every day.
The Two Things to Watch For
There are exactly two ingredients standing between our menu and a vegan order. Once you know what they are, ordering here is simple.
Honey. We finish most bowls with a drizzle of honey. Say no honey and it comes off. There is no charge and no substitution required, and the bowl is still sweet, because the sweetness was always coming from the fruit.
Whey protein. Four of our proteins are whey based: whey isolate, chocolate whey, vanilla whey and caramel whey. Four are not: chocolate pea, vanilla pea, plain pea and hemp seed. The pea proteins cost exactly the same as the whey, so this is a straight swap rather than a compromise.
That is the entire list. Everything else on our menu is already plant based.
Vegan Bowls
Every bowl blend on our board is plant based as written. The base is frozen fruit with organic acai or pitaya, blended with apple juice, coconut milk or water. Our nut butters are made in house from nuts. To order any bowl vegan, ask for no honey. That is it.
Two bowls are worth calling out. The Coconut Sorbet bowl is scooped coconut sorbet rather than a blend, and it is the easiest vegan order on the menu. The Coconut Chia Pudding is chia seeds soaked in coconut milk with pure maple syrup rather than honey, so the sweetener is already plant based, though it is layered with honey on top, so ask for it without.
The Chocolate Peanut Butter and Chocolate Coconut bowls both come standard with chocolate pea protein. Drop the honey and they are done. See the full bowl list.
Vegan Smoothies
Five of our six smoothies are plant based exactly as written, with no changes at all. Extreme Green, Mango Passion, Berry Berry, Tropical and Pitaya Colada are fruit, greens, acai or pitaya, apple juice and coconut milk. The Chocolate Peanut Butter smoothie uses chocolate pea protein as standard, so it is plant based too. The only way dairy enters a smoothie here is if you add a whey protein yourself. Choose a pea protein instead.
Vegan Power Shakes
Every power shake on our board is written with whey protein, because that is how most people order them. Every one of them can be built with chocolate, vanilla or plain pea protein instead, at the same price. The rest of the ingredients are already vegan. We use coconut milk and almond milk rather than dairy milk, and our almond and peanut butters are made in house from nuts. Order the Fresche Lean and Green with vanilla pea protein and you have a thirty gram plant based protein meal with spinach, kale, super greens and almond butter for 11.50.
Juices and Refreschers Are Already There
Everything on the juices page is vegan as written. So is every ReFrescher. No honey, no dairy, no swaps.
The Add In Board
Plant Based: hemp seed, chocolate pea protein, vanilla pea protein, plain pea protein, our house made peanut butter, natural almond butter, organic spinach, organic kale, vitamin C, multi vitamin, extra acai, fresh ground flax, chia seed, pure acai, warm oatmeal, granola, coconut chips, cacao nibs, goji berries, walnuts, pecans and extra fruit.
Not Vegan: whey isolate, chocolate whey, vanilla whey, caramel whey, bee pollen and extra honey.
Probiotic formulations vary. If you are strict about it, ask at the counter and we will show you the container.
Vegan and Gluten Free at the Same Time
This combination comes up several times a week and it is two things in one sentence. Everything we make is already gluten free, so ask for no honey and choose a pea protein instead of whey. Smoothies, shakes and juices need even less than that. See the gluten free page.
Why a Fruit Shop Bothers Getting This Right
Marcy and Brad started Genuine Fresche because they could not find whole food, plant based options when they went looking for them. They changed how their own family ate first and opened the shop second. Building a menu that a vegan customer can order off without a negotiation was never an afterthought here. Read the full story.
Plant based ordering, no negotiation required.
Frequently Asked
Can I get a vegan acai bowl at Genuine Fresche?
Yes. Every bowl blend on our menu is already plant based. Ask for no honey and any bowl on the board is vegan.
What is not vegan on your menu?
Two things. Honey, which we drizzle on most bowls and can simply leave off, and whey protein, which swaps for chocolate, vanilla or plain pea protein at the same price. Bee pollen is also an animal product.
Do you use dairy milk?
No. We use coconut milk and almond milk. The only dairy anywhere on our menu is in the whey proteins on the add in board.
Are your smoothies vegan?
Five of the six are plant based exactly as written, and the sixth uses chocolate pea protein as standard. The only way dairy enters is if you add a whey protein yourself, so choose pea or hemp instead.
Is there a charge to make something vegan?
No. Removing honey is free and swapping whey for pea protein costs the same as the whey.
Is your granola vegan?
Ask at the counter and we will show you the package for whichever granola you are getting, standard or gluten free. Ingredients change between batches and we would rather you read it yourself than take our word for it.
