The Best Post Workout Food in the East Valley (That Is Not a Bar or a Shaker Bottle)
2026-08-29 · Genuine Fresche
The East Valley trains hard. The gyms around Gilbert and Tempe fill up before sunrise, the canal paths get pounded all winter, and every weekend somebody is racing something. Then half of those athletes end the session with a protein bar from a glovebox.
Recovery food has two jobs: protein to rebuild, and carbohydrates to refill what you burned. Real food does both jobs better than anything in a wrapper, and that is the entire idea behind our power shakes.
Thirty grams, from food you can name
Every power shake on our board carries more than thirty grams of protein in a 24 ounce serving for 11.50. The protein comes from whey or pea, your pick at the same price, and the rest of the shake is actual food: blueberries, strawberries, banana, pineapple, spinach, kale, coffee, pecans, and nut butters we make in house from our own recipes.
The Chocolate PB Banana is the classic gym order, chocolate whey with banana and peanut butter. The Caramel Pecan Coffee has quietly become the morning favorite, real coffee and caramel whey in the same cup, which solves two problems at once. The Fresche Lean and Green runs vanilla protein through spinach, kale and super greens for the athlete who tracks micronutrients too.
Bowls work too, and here is when
A bowl is the move when you want to actually eat something after a long session. A medium bowl is a real meal, and adding a scoop of whey or pea protein for 2.00 turns it into a recovery meal that does not taste like one. Blended whole fruit brings the carbohydrates, the protein scoop does the rebuilding, and you get to chew, which a shaker bottle never offers.
Plant based athletes are fully covered. Chocolate, vanilla and plain pea protein all live on the add in board at the same price as whey, and almost everything else on the menu is already plant based.
Match the order to the session
- Heavy lifting: Chocolate PB Banana shake, or any bowl with an added protein scoop.
- Morning cardio: Caramel Pecan Coffee shake. Breakfast, coffee and recovery in one cup.
- Long run or ride: a medium bowl. You burned real carbohydrates, replace them with real fruit.
- Hot day training: a smoothie or a fresh squeezed juice alongside, for fluid and something cold.
- Team or race day: the Fresche Truck caters fitness events and finish lines across the Valley.
Where to find us after training
Two shops, both open seven days: Gilbert at Higley and Baseline, and Tempe at McClintock and Southern, minutes from the ASU area gyms. Doors open at 8:00 AM, which matters when your session started at 6.
